Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreos

Oreos are my favorite cookie. There are no exceptions to that statement. I'll buy other cookies, but I almost always end up thinking, "Man, I really should have gone with the Oreos". The same goes with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, known from now on as PBC's. I have some candies that are seasonal favorites, but the rest of the year, the Reese's PBC's are king. That's why, when I heard that Nabisco was going to combine two of my favorite treats, I immediately drove to the store in search of them. Then I went home, re-read the article, and discovered I still had two weeks before they were available. I was so excited, I wasn't even upset about wasting 7 dollars worth of gas.

A few days ago, the Reese's Oreo cookies finally showed up in my local grocery store. I had spent close to twenty minutes searching the store, and had finally given up. It wasn't until I was in the checkout lane that I noticed the stacks of Reese's Oreos next to the conveyor. At that point, I didn't care if I pissed off the person behind me. I grabbed two packs, and quickly tossed them on the counter. Two packs, just like that. I didn't even think about it.

The front of the package manages to catch the eye, without being too flashy. I love that the Peanut Butter Cup in the background is so huge compared to the Oreo. I couldn't blame someone if they thought this was just a big package of Reese's PBC's. At first glance, that's exactly what it looks like; Reese's PBC's, maybe with an Oreo bottom. But no, these are Oreos with chocolate and peanut butter creme in place of the standard white creme. It's a logical combination, but one that still surprises me with its existence.

Rather than mix the peanut butter and chocolate together, Nabisco kept them separated. I guess it gives people the opportunity to start with one flavor or the other, but I find I don't have that kind of patience. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference in taste any way. Speaking of, I'm sure everyone is curious how these actually taste. Nabisco have released dozens of Oreo flavors, ranging from Gingerbread to Watermelon. Some have been more successful than others, but you can't fault them for being creative. I can say, without hesitation or reservation, that these are fuckin' amazing. I don't often drop the f-bomb on this blog, so that just goes to show you how serious I am. All the components just work together perfectly. The Reese's peanut butter flavor is spot on, and I think this is actually one flavor that tastes better trapped between a couple of chocolate sandwich cookies.

These should be hitting the shelves everywhere by now, so you owe it to yourself to grab at least one package on your next shopping trip. Or two. Hell, I'm thinking I may stick some in the freezer for when the mutants rise up. When that happens, I think there's a very distinct possibility Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Oreo will become the next form of currency. If I can keep myself from eating all of them at least.
